FALLEN

The Dropouts with Doctorates

"They have the skill of virtuosos but the hearts of rockers."

SCROLL

From The Ivory Tower To The Dirty Stage

They met in the practice rooms of the San Francisco Conservatory and Cal State East Bay. They bonded over a shared frustration: they were tired of playing music for professors and wanted to play for people.

The band originally formed as a jazz-fusion trio called "The Dean's List," but they hated it. They felt stiff and academic.

The change happened one rainy Tuesday at a rehearsal space in the Dogpatch. Liam started playing a simple three-chord rock riff—something the others would usually scoff at for being "too simple." But then Sadie leaned into the mic and screamed a melody over it. Marcus dropped the jazz brushes, picked up heavy sticks, and hit the snare like a gunshot.

They realized their technical training allowed them to play simple music better than anyone else. They could make a simple rock song sound massive.

They renamed themselves FALLEN—to signify their departure from the "high society" of classical music into the beautiful, dirty world of rock and roll.

Meet The Band

Their sound is big, melodic, and proud. Think Pink Floyd's texture meeting Heart's vocal power, with the songwriting directness of Tom Petty.

The Academy Rebels

Marcus Metric Hale

Marcus Hale

"Metric"

Drums

A former orchestral percussion prodigy who was expelled from his conservatory program for improvising rock beats during a symphony recital.

"He plays with the thunder of John Bonham but the precision of a jazz drummer. He never overplays; he just makes the beat undeniable."

Elena Low-End Rosales

"Low-End"

Bass

A stand-up bass player trained in baroque theory. She traded her upright bass for a '78 Fender Precision because she wanted to feel the floor shake.

"She treats the bass as a lead instrument when necessary but knows when to lock it down. The musical director who translates complex ideas into rock arrangements."

Julian Thorne

Julian Thorne

Keyboards / Synth

A jazz pianist who got bored with "elevator music." He's obsessed with vintage analog gear—Hammond organs and Mellotrons.

"He avoids noodling. Instead, he creates massive walls of sound that give the band its Progressive edge without being cheesy. The atmosphere."

The Heart & Soul

The band had the technical skill but lacked the storytelling and the raw voice. They found the missing pieces outside the classroom walls.

Sadie Jenson

Sadie Jenson

Lead Vocals

Found singing in a choir in Oakland. She has zero formal training and can't read a note of music, which frustrates and fascinates the rest of the band.

"She has the grit of Janis Joplin but the control of Ann Wilson. The lightning rod—she connects the complex music to the audience's emotions."

Liam Cross

Liam Cross

Lead Vocals / Guitar

A self-taught guitarist the band met at an open mic in Berkeley. He was playing intricate, math-rock style chords but singing simple, beautiful melodies.

"He plays a beaten-up Gibson SG. The storyteller—his lyrics ground the songs, keeping them about real life rather than fantasy wizards."
